I have a client switching fro RS barcodes to Data Matrix and when I generate the barcode online it works great. When the user prints the barcode on their end, it look like a QR code. Here is my code:

Your ZPL looks fine for Data Matrix code and prints correct on my printer. What's wrong when your client prints from their printer? Can you show the image of print and the impage of the online rendering?
