iOS 8 and SSL/TLS issues

I have a RhoMobile app (5.0.30) that communicates to an XML web service via SSL. After updating the test iOS device to iOS 8.3, the connection fails about 80% of the time. If I turn SSL off, it starts working. The test device is an iPod touch running over Wifi (not 3G enabled). I've checked the SSL cert, and that's all good. I've also tried enabling/disabling various protocols on the web server (SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, TLS 1.2), and although the connection over TLS 1.2 seemed a little better, I'm not reading too much into it. I checked the rho log, and all it says is that it could not connect to the server. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

It might be useful to know how you are using SSL.

Do you use AsyncHttp (legacy), Network (current), or do you use the he openSSL extension?

Are you certain it is an SSL problem? Can you set-up a test server that does not use SSL? Are you certain it is related to iOS 8.3? Can you demonstrate that the problem does not exist with an older iOS?
