In the "Build for Windows" documentation, it mentions using either VS 2008 or VS 2012 for the build process. Is there any reason you can't use VS 2013? You need VS 2013 for the WP8 build, so it would be better if I only had to install one version of VS.

I also faced this when I tried to build my application for Win32. I first tried with VS2013 but it did not work (sorry, but I don't remember exactly why). I ended up installing VS2012 (in fact Visual Studio Express 2012) and it finally worked (after a lot of work/research mainly because of this damned ATL lib missing, a Rhodes patch that I had to do in BaseMapEngine.cpp and a wrong certificate file).
