I am wanting to connect an RS507 to my TC55 and have it read bar codes and send the read over a serial port to allow the app to automatically set an input field.
What are the steps required to configure the RS507 to behave in this way and subsequently what java code do I need to handle this on the app side? I have seen the api for the bluetooth stack, I am more interested in the threading pattern used to do the reads. My bar codes are Interleaved 2 of 5 of length 8 (if this is relevant for defining buffer lengths?).
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I think an easier option would be to use the default SSI configuration for the RS507 and a Datawedge intent to receive the data in the app - this is detailed at this link: Data Capture Intents Tutorial - Zebra Technologies TechDocs
You would not gain any advantage using the 507 in serial mode but the implementation would be significantly more complex.
