Will we increase the SD size limit beyond 2 GB?

I'm using a SanDisk microSDHC 8Gb class 2 card in an MC75 (WM6.1) with no issues.

I have a government customer that wants to deploy the 75 with a 10GB worth of detailed mapping info stored on SDHC. Do we have a plan to officially support the larger sizes of SDHC cards and do we have a timescale ? Thanks Andy

Andy, The WM 6.1 (BSP 27) release includes support for SDHC, but only up to 8 GB.  It's better than the previous 2 GB, but not as much as you're looking for.

PMB 1617 is mentioning following BSP 27.3  WM6.1 Supports SDHC Micro SD Cards 4GB, 8GB. (16GB & 32GB currently being validated)

Just to confirm that I have tried an 8GB SDHC micro SD card in both the MC75 and MC55 ( WM 6.1 installed) and it is correctly detected and accessable on both units. Best Regards, Ian Hatton EMb EMEA

Ian, Can you let me know what manufacturer and model SDHC card you are using? Also, what BSP version are you running on your MC55 and MC75?  I've been told that SDHC support won't be available until BSP25 on the MC75 and BSP27 on the MC55. Thanks, Ken

Ken,  I have the MC75 WM6.1 beta (OEM 01.27.0000)  and the MC55 WM6.1 beta (OEM 01.27.0003). The card I have tested on these units is a SanDisk 8GB Micro SDHC. Best Regards, Ian Hatton

Tom, While your checking on that, can you also find out when we will provide the 8GB support on the MC55?

I spoke with Chuck Bolen and his response is all Symbol products built on MPA 1.5 support SDHC (such as the MC75/ MC55). The question comes up in regards to devices built on MPA 1.0. At this time it is technically possible for that platform to support SDHC however from a business perspective there are no plans to investigate what needs to happen to allow MPA 1.0 support. He did say that if the field would like to put together a business case as to why support for SDHC is needed for products on MPA 1.0 we can then present that to the MCD BU for consideration. Hope this information is helpful *Amy Pennica

Herbert,  4GB non-SDHC cards are working on the MC70 with WM5 (BSP43) although you need to use the SDIO driver rather than the SDMMC version. Unfortunately this is not an option for the MC75 since I don't think that micro SD cards are supplied in any format other than SDHC. Best Regards, Ian Hatton EMb EMEA

I believe the MC75 WM6.1 OS release will support SDHC.  I believe up to 8GB SDHC was tested. No current plan for SDHC support on MC70.  This would have to go through GRIP or the Custom Products route.

Tom,         Please confirm which build on the MC75 WM6.1 will support SDHC.  Is it "B" or "C"? Don

I also have a customer that is looking to migrate to SDHC cards - are there any plans to support this format on the MPA1.5 platform devices?

N Nick Zeleznock

Please let Amy Pennica know.  I also need SDHC on MC70 WM5 and I am trying to get a GRIP (4868-4886) for this pushed through. Thanks Nick Z

also have a case 1792777  600 devices MC7004 where there is a need for 4GB support on WM5 Is the GRIP being worked on  is it usefull that TA Charles Worm add his customer ?
