Wrapping Up Zebra’s APPFORUM in Vegas 2019

APPFORUM Americas just ended and closed out a whirlwind of a summer.  Going from Warsaw to Sydney to Beijing then Vegas, I feel like I ran the whole way.  All four events were great, and the final one was the best we’ve had in the Americas. 

We had so many great speakers this year. Long-time Zebras like Darryn Campbell and myself to high profile speakers like Google and IBM. 

Highlighting the event, was our launch of our new Zebra Savanna Data Services in June. Savanna Data Services gives developers better access to data that flows through Zebra devices, enhanced with analytics and enrichment data. Sessions exposed working with enriched data sources for barcode scans such as FDA database information and retail product identification. Other sessions explored using a blockchain to trace print, scan, and read events for traceability  to printing from the cloud. It was definitely a highlight of the event.

UX sessions were popular as well delivered by our the Zebra UX and Industrial Design team. Attendees learned how to design great mobile interfaces for industry and how to reach users on an emotional level, so they love working with your app. These sessions illustrated  Zebra’s experience in this space and invited the developer community to participate in making thier experience with Zebra better.

We also had a great Women’s Inclusion Network breakfast with our guest speaker Victoriya Kalmanovich from the Israeli Navy who talked about being a leader in a male dominated industry.  Delivering an inspirational breakout session as well, Vikki provided a thorough overview about data science and how to not only understand what problems it can solve, but, how to work with data scientists and developers on these problems.

Overall the message was on topic with mainstage and breakout sessions on solutions and data services about the future of enterprise software development.  We have never had a better story to tell about where Zebra is going.
